Dear colleagues,
I would like to inform you of the Japanese Drosophila Research Conference (JDRC). I am Masayuki Miura, going to organize the 9th JDRC in 2009 summer. This is the 1st announcement of JDRC9. This meeting has been held every other year; the last time was in July 2007 (organized by Fumio Matsuzaki, RIKEN CDB). JDRC9 will be held at Tsumagoi Resort in Kakegawa city (2hr from Tokyo, 1hr from Nagoya by Super-express Train) from July 6 to July 8, 2009.
This meeting is open to anyone working in or interested in Drosophila, and all sessions will be delivered in English. JDRC8 was great success because many fly researchers from Asian countries (more than 70 participants from abroad) actively participated in the JDRC8. The JDRC has been holding its meeting every other year, providing an opportunity for Drosophila researchers in a broad range of fields to interact with each other face-to-face. Due to the scale of the meeting (total participants ~300), we have the advantage of being able to offer all oral presentations in a single hall (more than 30 talks from genome, signaling, development, disease, behavior to evolution) together with the poster sessions. Especially young researchers including students will find a valuable opportunity at this meeting to present and discuss their work with many people in the fly community. We would like to host JDRC9 to encourage the communication of fly researchers from abroad, especially from Asian and Oceanic countries. We are also planning to offer fellowships for young participants from overseas (graduate students and postdocs). We hope you are interested in JDRC9 and I would really appreciate it if you inform this to anyone who might be interested in JDRC9. Looking forward to seeing in an exciting conference in Tsumagoi Resort.
Best wishes,
On behalf of organizers,
Masayuki Miura
Organizer of the 9th JDRC
