Masataka Okabe is a leading geneticist and developmental biologist who has contributed to discover regulatory mechanisms of organ development. Dr. Okabe received his M.D. from Jikei University School of Medicine in 1993. He went on to receive his Ph.D. in medical science in 1996 from the Jikei University Graduate School of Medicine for his work in molecular genetic studies of organ development in Drosophila. His research during postdoc carrer in London focused on analyzing the evolutionarily fundamentals of parathyroid gland development in vertebrates. In 2007, he was appointed as a Professor at the Jikei University School of Medicine and he expanded his study of Evo-Dev in vertebrates.
