The 7th Meeting of Japanese Drosophila Research Conference õ

The Japanese Drosophila Research Conference (JDRC) is held once every two years to serve to reflect on progress in Drosophila biology in Japan.

4. Presentation õ

We strongly encourage all of the presenters to write figures of both posters and slides in English. Please find details about official languages of presentations below.

Poster sessions: õ

Presenters are requested to display their posters on the designated boards (each is 90cm W and 180cm H) in the lobby next to Event Hall before 13:30 on Thursday, July 7. You can view posters until 10 pm on 7th and 8th. All posters must be removed from the boards no later than 12:00 on Saturday, July 9th.

Oral presentations: õ

Each presentation is 15 minutes long (10-12 minutes presentation with an additional 3-5 minutes for questions and discussion). The presentation will be performed either in English or in Japanese as indicated in each abstract.

Symposium: õ

Both presentations and discussion will be done in English. The invited speakers are the following:
Shoko Nishihara (Soka University): Functional glycomics using Drosophila RNAi system
Kazuhiko Kume (Kumamoto University): Arousal and sleep regulation in the fruit fly
Haruhiko Siomi (University of Tokushima):A possible link between RNA interference and human disease
Masato Umeda (Kyoto University): A new approach for molecular lipid biology using Drosophila: Role of membrane lipids in controlling thermoregulatory behavior

Workshop: õ

Each presentation is 15 minutes or 20 minutes long and will be performed either in English or in Japanese as indicated in each abstract. Many of the presentations put some emphases on experimental approaches.

Abstracts: õ

Only English abstracts are accepted. You will be able to download the PDF file of abstracts before the meeting. We do not distribute a paper version of the abstract book.

General Meeting: õ

General meeting is schedules at the Event Hall beginning at 18:00, July 8 and performed in Japanese. All members of the JDRC are requested to attend the General meeting.

Mixer: õ

Mixer is scheduled at 18:30, July 8 in the Reception Room B. Recipients of "Moriwaki-Daigoro Prize", which honors outstanding presentations of students and post-docs, will be announced there.

5. Registration fees õ

The registration desk will be located in the lobby of Event Hall. Upon receiving
fees, we will hand your nameplate to everyone, and tickets for box breakfast and lunch and mixer to those who have already registered. Please wear your nameplate during the meeting and return it when the meeting is over.

None-salaried participant: €4,000 (€5, 000 for on-site registration)

Note 1: Approximately (only) 100 rooms are available for attendants of this conference. We strongly request that applicants, graduate students and postdocs in particular, will share individual rooms with 2-3 people.

Several restaurants are open next to the hotel and it costs €1,000-1,500 per lunch. If you reserve box lunch (makuno-uchi plus drink, €1,000), it will be distributed in the lobby next to Event Hall (Online registration is closed). Outside the complex of the conference halls, the hotel, and the restaurants, there is only one convenience store (20 min on foot) and no supermarket nearby.

Coffee break: õ

There are vender machines next to Event Hall.
